Paula Costa, a former Brazilian mixed martial artist called out Derek Brunson on the mic shortly after winning 170-pound championship at UFC 217against Johny Hendricks.
All this started when Paulo was aggressively brushed off by Derek Brunson, though this has not turned Costa’s attention away from middleweight.
After winning 170-pound championship against Johny Hendricks this Saturday at UFC 217, Paulo called out Brunson. It did not take any time for Brunson to reply back with both dismissing Costa and putting PED accusation simultaneously.
By the time, Costa was unaware about the Brunson’s tweet. He just went backstage to talk to media at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Media was all set to catch Costa’s real-time reaction on the Brunson’s statement that he was on steroids.
Paulo Costa told media, “He’s crazy” with a hearty laugh. “He’s scared, he does not want to fight with me. Derek Brunson does not want a fight against me, but I am ready to fight”. USADA tests everyone all the time. So Brunson is trying to run away because of entirely fake pretext.

Costa’s statement was accompanied by his manager, Wallid Ismail. He chimed and added, Brunson is simply making excuses not to meet Paulo and does not give exact reason.
Brunson is like, “Oh, you do steroids. I have never been caught with such things”. Paulo said, I have been tested more than 10 times ever since I was in the UFC. UFC used to send a kind of receipt each time they test anyone.
Paulo Costa refereed a tweet by Brunson that mentions his name just next to a single test and What the screen grab displayed, Still, it was the Brazilian who come under his nickname, “Borrachinha” – that appeared earlier as his last name in the UFC’s official communications. According to a search with full name of Paulo, Paulo Henrique Costa, shows with seven tests.

Meanwhile, Paulo’s manager kept intervening by saying, Costa was tested by USADA thrice in a month. Costa is not new these type of allegations. The 26 year old martial artist has constantly been the target of PED-use speculation since he joined UFC.
Despite the fact, he has never been evicted by USADA. It can be seen in any interview that Costa is not much influenced by these crazy stuffs.
On the other hand, he added, finger-pointing merely based on eye test is not pleasing at all. Costa further said, “this things bother me a bit, however, it all sounds crazy at the same time”.
Because, USADA tests every athlete and Olympic and if I am cheating USADA and by bypassing it, I am next-level scientist. There is nothing much to say. I train hard, dedicate myself and eat very well. I consult doctor and do everything I can to evolve.
Costa on a question “if Brunson is not up for the fight, can Costa think of anyone else?”, answers “I have no idea. I would like to fight people with big names, probably with ex-champs and top 10 fighters”.
“I would on the other hand, like to fight him since he has been talking tons of craps. I would surely like to fight with him to settle this down.”
Costa is planning to return either in March or April. The fighter wants to step off the gas and wants to spend some quality time with family.
Paulo had no idea that he has been one of the year’s biggest cards At New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden few months after his UFC’s debut.
Paulo says, “nerves and anxiety only exist in our head. They are not perceptible things.” Its you who choose to feel them or not.
Paulo advises, “you have to take this pressure but at the same time minimizes it as much as possible. It makes you show what you can do and it’s what I do”. Paulo says, “I can fight at any place. It can be coliseum. There is always pressure. but I am able vindicate it and ensures that my hard work shines through it”.
The brazilian martial artist believes that he might be just 3-4 fights away to get a title shot.
Paulo Costa adds, “ as we all can see we have no longer fugitive champions like Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo few years back. But with right wins, it is possible to get there”.

Today, Paula Costa is reckoned as most vicious competitor in the middleweight division. He is literally a wrecking ball. Back in July 7, Costa easily took on the Uriah Hall on the featured session of FOX Sports 1 portion of the UFC 226 prelims.
This bout was all about back and forth war. Meanwhile, Costa’s offense proved out to be higher for Hall in the second round only. Also, in the second phase, “Primetime” astonishingly scored a takedown but couldn’t hold Costa down for longer.
Soon enough, this Brazilian guy used some of his body shots to drop Hall and end the fight. Check out the highlights here:

The UFC seems to have prematurely announced one of its unofficial middleweight tournament going to be held on November, 3 2018.
According to multiple sources close to Romero, a statement was made which stated, “he hasn’t agreed to the fight or any other fight this time. Romero actually had a surgery on his broken orbital bone less than a month ago”. Sources also added that he isn’t in any rush to accept his next fight until he heals up fully.
In fact all the plans and fights have been put on hold until he recovers. Few sources have also reported that Costa verbally agreed to this fight but neither Romero nor his Team have said yes or made any confirmation.
Apparently, Costa has won his fight against Uriah Hall at UFC 226. Now it remains to be seen if Costa vs Romero will eventually make its way to Broadway.
